About Mr. O'Rourke

Fall 2023 I have had the privilege to serve as Sharon Middle School's principal for eighteen years. In my years here in Sharon, I have come to appreciate the dedication of the staff, the support of our parents, and the hard work of our students. I love my work and being a member of the Sharon School community. Prior to coming to Sharon, I worked as a middle school principal in Hockinson, Washington, just outside of Portland, Oregon. I taught fourth and fifth grade, middle school mathematics and science, worked as a curriculum administrator and served as a high school assistant principal. Much of my career has been spent on the west coast in Los Angeles and in the Portland, Oregon area. Middle school education has always, however, been my favorite. I love working with middle school students, teachers and parents. Outside of school, I keep busy with my twin seventeen-year-old old daughters, Claire and Olivia. I enjoy running, surfing and many other outdoor activities with my wife, two big dogs, friends and family. You have my assurance that I will make great efforts to both protect your investment in Sharon Middle School and to nurture future growth. I hope to earn your partnership at SMS in accomplishing the goal of success for all of our students and in creating a safe, enriching, learning community.
